we were in the water, and were violently stalked by large amounts of fish. They would bite at us and showed no fear.
They had blue tails and were kind of small.
What were they!

You probably just ran into some bluegill. Their tales are actually a chartreuse green, but depending in the clarity of the water can look like another color. The will bite when the see leg hair or even stubble from just shaven legs. Guys especially get it bad because they love the long hair legs and biting ever little hair you have. They aren't predatory towards us. They just nibble on it. They won't attack, after all they aren't pirahanas.

I just killed it up at Bartlett on Top water at Bartlett Flats "the north end of the lake" I used a popper. They were jumping at it from the shore to about 40 feet out.
