Fishing At Bog Tank Arizona
Beyond a doubt, this is one of my favorite fishing holes in Arizona. While my father and I could regularly "limit out" on nearby Hawley, my mother insisted nothing could compare to Bog Tank's action.
So, off we'd go on a thirty minute drive out of Hawley and across State Route 260 to Bog Tank to let her join the ranks of the "limited." At 12 surface acres and situated in the water-infested White Mountains, Bog Tank, which was originally impounded in 1956, earns its name. It may not be very much to look at, but the fishing is pretty good. At an elevation of 8,100 feet, it's also a cooling experience, even in July.
Bog Tank offers stocker rainbow trout, Apache trout, occasional brookies and browns. Everything from corn to marshmallow-style trout bait seem to work here. I even watched fishermen along the northern shore work a wet fly to catch their limits in minutes one year.-G.J Sagi, from the travel handbook Fishing Arizona
This lake is stocked with Apache Trout the first week of June for a fishing derby for kids.
