Fishing At Dankworth Pond Arizona.
Danworth Pond is part of the Dankworth/Roper Lake State Park unit and is located only 8 miles south of Safford off U.S. Route 191. Dankworth Pond may only impound about 10 surface acres, but it's an important fishery for the region's anglers.
Originally the area was owned by a Mr. Dankworth, who used six smaller ponds in the area to raise fish. Once the state took over, the smaller ponds were allowed to go dry, and management of the larger pond (10-acre Dankworth) began.
During the winter or early spring, you'll discover why many southern Arizonans count Dankworth among the state's best winter experiences. An elevation of only 3,100 feet can make summer visits uncomfortable, though you can expect December temperatures to average slightly above 61 degrees.
