Tonto National Forest is one of the most-visited “urban” forests in the U.S. (approximately 5.8 million visitors annually). Its boundaries are Phoenix to the south, the Mogollon Rim to the north and the San Carlos and Fort Apache Indian reservations to the east.
When visiting the Tonto National Forest you will need a Tonto Pass. If your fishing, boating, hicking, picknicking or just sight seeing you will need a Tonto Pass. Who needs a Tonto Pass? Just one per vehicle. If that vehicle has a water craft it needs a watercraft stamp on the Tonto Pass. Click Here to read more about the Tonto Pass and to purchase a Tonto Pass online to be mailed to you. Here is a Map of the Tonto National Forest from "The American Southwest" You can take a quick look at to see if your destination falls on its land.
