  • Catfish point is just below Horseshoe Dam on the Verde River. As the name implies, it's a good catfish spot. Even when Horseshoe Lake above is empty, below the dam will usually have enough water to fish. Horseshoe dam is really cool to see when Horseshoe lake is full and they're releasing water, you can walk under the dam where the water flows overhead.

    You can catch: crappie, large and smallmouth bass, channel and flathead catfish, carp, and bluegill. Lot's of people go night fishing here and sleep in their cars. There is nowhere to launch bigger boats although you can carry down small ones.

    You'll need a Tonto Pass when visiting Catfish Point since it's located on the Tonto National Forest.

  • To get to Catfish Point, you would drive toward Horseshoe Lake. Take Cave Creek Rd to Bartlett Dam Rd, then turn left on Horseshoe Dam Rd.
