  • Willow Beach, located in the Black Canyon region of the Colorado River, provides not only the amenities for a great getaway, but also features some of the most unique scenery and wildlife in the region. Willow Beach is a popular spot on the Colorado River to fish for large striped bass and rainbow trout. Swim baits, anchovies and shad imitations work best for striped bass. You will do fine fishing from shore for Rainbows and surprisingly Stripers as well. To get the big fish though you will need to get out into the deeper waters. 20 and 30 pound Stripers are common with the world record at 60 Pounds caught 8 miles from Willow Beach.

Try spinner baits along with cut anchovies for stripers. Trout are scheduled to be stocked the first week of February. If you fish Willow beach and are having luck, please e-mail me at gcummins@azgfd.gov so I can share your successes with others.
