How's the black river for smallmout these days?

Anyone been out to the Black River near where it meets the White River and fished for smallmouth bass? They were pretty small last time I went out but I caught a ton of them.

 

Never really caught anything over a 1 lb out there. Always fun though watching them swim up to the lures.

 

I found when fishing smallmouth bass at the Black River you have to find large pools. Was there twice in April and the average size we caught was one and a half to 2 pounds. Going back in July to see if they are still biting.

 

This 3 1/2 pound smallmouth was caught there at night. A lot of the larger fish seem to feed in the night .

 

Im planning on fishing there next month. My friend told me its still a good place to fish for smallmouth bass. Im really excited because I havent fished for a while.
