    Many bass are in a post-spawn mode. Fishing should pick up with this stretch of warm, calm weather and top-water action should pick up once again. Try frogs, Pop-R’s, and Ricos. Crappie fishing has slowed.

    As the sun rises, try Texas-rigged lizards. Drifting gizzard shad swimbaits had been hooking some bass. Water should be clearing.

    One angler had success night-fishing with a wacky-rigged 5-inch watermelon red flake Flick’m Shimmy worms, in 4 to 10 feet of water.

    Yellow bass is an option if the largemouth bass are finicky. Try nightcrawlers on dropshot rigs.

    Saguaro Lake levels dropped 12% during the past 5 days. The levels were decreased to accommodate maintenance at Mormon Flat Dam. The dam outage is expected to last until around mid-March.

    The largemouth bass spawn was already in full swing by Monday, March 6. Try Texas-rigged lizards. Drifting gizzard shad swimbaits have been some bass.

    Yellow bass is an option if the largemouth bass are finicky. Try nightcrawlers on dropshot rigs.

    The lake is 1,527 feet (95-percent full). Water conditions had been improving – one angler recently caught a 5.5-pound largemouth bass in 3-5 feet of water depth on a brown and yellow crankbait around noon from some reeds.

    Saguaro was stocked with trout last week.

    Although it is a little deeper than Alamo Lake and not quite the solar bowl, Saguaro can heat up as well -- in more ways than one. Trout and yellow bass are options if the largemouth bass are finicky. It’s also the early bird for channel catfish that like to feed on shad. Plus, Saguaro is just downright gorgeous.

    For now, it's typical winter fishing. Anglers are reporting hit-and-miss action on bass, with many daily bags of less than two bass a day. Yellow bass fishing can be good -- try using a silver and blue Kastmaster or similar.

    Ray B. caught this largemouth bass from Saguaro Lake on a brown and yellow crankbait around noon from the reeds. He said it weighed 5.51 pounds.
