The north fork of the White River starts near McNary and heads south to meet up with the Black Rive to form the Salt River. There are naturally occurring trout in the north fork including Apache Trout and the Game and Fish department stocks it as well. As you head south to the Black River expect to find areas marked "Special Use" by the White Mountain Apache Tribe. There is a map on the White Mountains Fishing Regulations page that will help you out. The White River can be catch and release at times as well. As you head south the elevation will drop and the river will start producing smallmouth bass and channel catfish.
