  • Francis Short Pond/ Francis Short Lake is located in Historic Downtown Falgstaff. This is a small 1-2 acer lake that occasonial gets stocked from the Arizona Game and Fishing Department. You can have small motorless boats on the lake.

    Will be stocked with the normal weekly stockings starting in March. Anglers should be able to catch fish at Frances Short right now since they were catching them before it iced over (and since it was full at that time, the fish-to-water ratio is the same.) For all of the other lakes, until we can stock the fishing will probably be somewhat poor.

    Worms were working this past weekend along meal worms under a bobber or powerbait. There was an angler Saturday fishing with baby bell cheese fished on the bottom with no weights who was catching lots of trout. Folks using flies and lures have also been catching trout. Yesterday when I stocked the lake a fly angler caught an 18inch long 2 lb Rainbow Trout.
