Tonto National Forest is one of the most-visited “urban” forests in the U.S. (approximately 5.8 million visitors annually). Its boundaries are Phoenix to the south, the Mogollon Rim to the north and the San Carlos and Fort Apache Indian reservations to the east.
When visiting the Tonto National Forest you will need a Tonto Pass. If your fishing, boating, hiking, picnicking or just sight seeing you will need a Tonto Pass. Who needs a Tonto Pass? Just one per vehicle. If that vehicle has a water craft it needs a watercraft stamp on the Tonto Pass.
